Dear ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏÍø-Brightwaters Community,
As the leaves begin to fall and the air becomes crisper, another exceptional year is underway in the ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏÍø School District. Thanksgiving provides an opportunity for each of us to reflect on what we are grateful for. I would like to take this opportunity to express my gratitude for all of the support you provide to our students and schools. The strong connection fostered among our families and schools makes it possible to continue to provide the exceptional learning opportunities that our incredible District and community are known for.
Each day, we are reminded of the value of building relationships with those around us. Recently, the Gardiner Manor School family demonstrated the importance of strong relationships when they came together to support each other during a difficult time. The ability to create these types of relationships begins early in life. When we introduced Family Connection Night last year, the goal was to provide families with an opportunity to foster togetherness. It was wonderful to see the photos shared by families across the District demonstrating how they used this time to connect. Hearing the stories that accompanied the photos makes it clear we have accomplished that goal. I look forward to hearing even more stories after the next Family Connection Night at the end of January.
This past weekend, the ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏÍø High School Drama Club presented its production of The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. I had the opportunity to see the musical comedy on opening night. Our student performers are truly outstanding, and this production was no exception.
The accomplishments of our students also extend to our student athletes, as many of our Fall Athletic teams made it to postseason competition after completing winning seasons. I would like to congratulate Boys Cross Country runner, Jake Gogarty, and Varsity Swimming team member, Hailey Bendersky, for breaking school records in their respective sports while competing in the postseason. Jake now holds the school record for running the course at Sunken Meadow State Park; the previous record had stood for 45 years. Hailey is the new record holder in the 50 free and 100 fly events.
I look forward to the many great things that are yet to come for our students and staff, and hope that you enjoy a healthy and enjoyable Thanksgiving with your loved ones. As always, thank you for your continued support of our students and ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏÍø.
Sincerely,
Steven J. Maloney, Ed.D.
