As we mark the twentieth anniversary of September 11, 2001, the ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏÍø School District pauses to remember those lost and honor the survivors. The District will hold a memorial ceremony that is open to the public on September 11, 2021. A video will be shared on our website.
Our Social Studies Department has created a series of lessons for our students. The lessons revolve around community service and the compelling question, How should 9/11 be remembered?
Many who were alive on September 11, 2001, have strong memories of the way everyone came together in the aftermath. We celebrated the heroes in our communities. We were all a little kinder to each other. To honor the memory of those lost on September 11th, we would like to bring that spirit back, if only for a week.
During the week of September 11-17, 2021, we are encouraging our community to participate in ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏÍø Remembers. Perform a random act of kindness, snap a photo and share the story with us. Share a photo or video with a story of someone who gifted you with a random act of kindness. Send us a video telling everyone who your everyday ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏÍø hero is, someone who deserves recognition for what they do in the community.
Photos, short videos and stories should be sent to communityservice@bayshoreschools.org. Stories will be shared on the District’s website and social media channels using the hashtag #BayShoreRemembers.
Help us to create a tribute that will show the world ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏÍø Remembers.
