Mr. Carlton Brown, Principal
Mr. Carlton Brown has served as Gardiner Manor principal since July 2001. Previously, he was the South Country principal for five years from 1996 until 2001 and, prior to that appointment, was the Assistant Principal at both Fifth Avenue and Mary G. Clarkson Schools. Originally, Mr. Brown served the ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏÍø School District in the capacity of school social worker for eleven years and Co-chairperson for the district’s Code of Conduct Committee. He is a graduate of SUNY Stony Brook and earned a master’s degree in Social Work from The School of Social Welfare. He completed postgraduate work at C.W. Post and Dowling College. Mr. Brown is a certified social worker with experience in the juvenile criminal justice system, as he was a Suffolk County Probation Officer prior to entering education. He has been recognized by various community organizations for his dedication to the youth of ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏÍø.
Ms. Elizabeth Tejada, Assistant Principal
Elizabeth Tejada has been an educator for more than 20 years. She spent 7 years as a general education teacher in
New York City, where her focus was on caring for and educating the whole child. She then served as a reading teacher in Florida before joining the Brentwood School District as a bilingual teacher. For the last 9 years, she has been an ENL teacher in the Great Neck and Longwood School Districts. As an educator and parent, Ms. Tejada believes in a strong home-school connection. Her experience with balanced literacy and social-emotional learning programs have provided her the tools needed to support students and families through the educational process.
