Mr. Stephen Gordon, Principal
Mr. Stephen Gordon has spent his entire professional career in the ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏÍø School District. In 2002, Mr. Gordon started his career as a third grade teacher in South Country Elementary School. Over the course of the following 11 years at South Country, Mr. Gordon served as a fifth grade teacher, a reading specialist, and a building Literacy Coordinator. In 2013, Mr. Gordon joined the administrative team at ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏÍø Middle School as an Assistant Principal. He spent two and a half years at the Middle School before accepting an assistant principalship at ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏÍø High School. In July of 2021, Mr. Gordon was appointed Principal of ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏÍø High School.
Mr. Gordon is a graduate of St. John’s University where he attended as a two sport student-athlete. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education and a Master of Science in Reading. Additionally, Mr. Gordon received a certificate in Educational Leadership from Stony Brook University.
Mr. Gordon believes in providing students with a well-balanced education that encourages individuals to challenge themselves academically, develop awareness of the control they have over the choices they make, and to strive to become the best version of themselves.
Dr. Michelle Garrett, Assistant Principal
Dr. Michelle Garrett joined the ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏÍø Middle School as a guidance counselor in January 2002. After three and a half years, she spent the following year as a high school counselor before becoming the Instructional Supervisor. Prior to her employment in ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏÍø, Ms. Garrett taught mathematics in Astoria, Queens after five years of employment with Charlies Schwab & Co. as an investment specialist. She holds a doctorate in Educational Leadership from St. John's University, M.S. in School Counseling (L.I.U.), B.S. in Finance (C.W. Post/L.I.U.) and School District Administrator Certification from Stony Brook University. Dr. Garrett believes that all students can be successful given a positive learning environment that encourages creativity, values diversity, and holds all students to high expectations.
Mr. Peter Raio, Assistant Principal
Mr. Peter Raio began his career as an educator in ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏÍø 19 years ago. During that time he taught 4th and 5th grade at Gardiner Manor School. He has taught in both the regular education and inclusion setting, and is proud to be a part of the ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏÍø School community. Mr. Raio believes strongly in a collaborative leadership that supports a school environment of lifelong learners. He earned his Bachelors of Science in Elementary Education from Old Westbury University and his master’s degree in Literacy Education from Dowling College. Later, he went on to earn his School District and School Building Leadership Diploma through Stony Brook University. Mr. Raio is a passionate leader who is dedicated to providing ALL ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏÍø scholars with the quality education they deserve.
