Dear Parents/Guardians:
As you are aware, the ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏÍø School District has shifted from quarterly grade reporting to trimester grade reporting at the K-5 level only. ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏÍø High School and ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏÍø Middle School will continue with quarterly grade reporting.
With trimester grade reporting at K-5, report cards will be issued three (3) times a year. A trimester schedule provides additional time for teachers to instruct students, formatively assess, provide constructive feedback, and allow for mastery of learning. It also allows our Kindergarten students more time to acclimate to a new school year before being assessed.
The evaluation of student progress is a continuous process, involving many evaluative activities that parallel the learning experiences in which your child is engaged. At the K-2 level, only students who do not meet grade level standards in English Language Arts and Mathematics will receive an Interim Progress Report. As in previous years, all students in grades 3-5 will continue to receive Interim Progress Reports.
For additional information regarding trimester grade reporting, please contact your child’s principal, or visit the ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏÍø School District website (http://www.bayshore.k12.ny.us). Thank you for your continued support of ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏÍø as we work together for your child’s success.
Sincerely,
Steven J. Maloney
