The following guidance was created to provide the school-community with a summary of the ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏÍø School District Reopening Plan for the 2020-2021 school year. The vision of the ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏÍø School District Reopening Plan is to ensure the health and safety of students, staff, and community as we reopen for learning. The mental and physical well-being of our students, staff, and families are our foremost priorities.
On July 16, 2020, the New York State Education Department (NYSED) released guidance ( requiring schools to submit reopening plans by July 31, 2020. Due to the inability to return to a traditional school setting in September 2020, the ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏÍø Classroom Teachers Association (BSCTA) and District Administrative leaders collaborated to review two (2) learning models to reopen schools:
-
Model A: Distance Learning
-
Model B: Hybrid Learning
Given the dynamic nature of the COVID-19 health crisis, ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏÍø School District initiated steps to restore, reconstruct, and redesign learning for the reopening of school in September 2020. Our reopening plan reflects the best available data and evidence on maximizing educational opportunities, while mitigating spread of the Coronavirus. While our ultimate goal is the return to in-person instruction, delivery of services, and resumption of extracurricular activities, the following guiding principles were used in the development of the ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏÍø School District Reopening Plan:
-
Maintaining continuity of instruction
-
Keeping students and staff safe and healthy
-
Addressing the social and emotional needs of students, staff, and families
-
Continuing to provide support for Special Education students, English Language Learners, and other at-risk populations
-
Articulating the reopening vision of ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏÍø School District
