Remote Learning Academic and Behavioral Expectations


In order to implement an effective Remote Learning Plan, we have summarized the academic and behavioral expectations for members of our learning community.  

 

Academic Expectations

 

³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏÍø teachers will:

  • Engage students with a blend of synchronous and asynchronous learning following their regular school schedule

  • Continue to familiarize students with instructional learning platforms (Seesaw and Google Classroom) to ensure continuity of instruction

  • Grade assignments and post grades to Infinite Campus

  • Support students with potential digital challenges 

  • Follow the established course of study to ensure that students are progressing towards meeting appropriate learning standards

  • Monitor assignment submissions and communication with students to remind them of missed and/or upcoming deadlines

  • Communicate with families if students have missed assignments

 

³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏÍø students will:

  • Log in to their respective learning platform (Seesaw or Google Classroom) daily

  • Attend synchronous lessons every day/time that they are scheduled, with camera on 

  • Participate in asynchronous learning, by completing all work through Google Classroom and Seesaw

  • Complete and submit all assignments in alignment with due dates established by teachers

  • Communicate to their teacher(s) any questions they have regarding coursework assignments/lessons that have been posted

  • Communicate to their teachers any difficulties surrounding participation in remote learning


³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏÍø parents should:

  • Check for regular COVID-19 updates on the ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏÍø School District website 

  • Communicate with teachers, support staff, and/or District/Building leadership  on any questions or concerns 

  • Support your child(ren) to the best of your ability with the online platforms being utilized by the District  (turning in assignments, mute and camera buttons, logging off, etc.)

  • Contact the ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏÍø Technology Department if you need support with an account or device  (chromebook@bayshoreschools.org)

  • Encourage and support children with logging onto their respective learning platform (Seesaw or Google Classroom) and to be online, on time, every day 

  • Support your child in being punctual for synchronous lessons in a quiet learning space, with minimal distraction and the appropriate/required materials 

  • Provide the school with a working email address and phone number(s), and update appropriate offices, if necessary

 

Behavioral Expectations/Remote Learning Etiquette During Synchronous Lessons

 

Students should engage in the following conduct during synchronous (live) remote learning lessons, in order to meet with success:

  • Preparation

    • Be punctual for synchronous lessons

    • Charge device in advance

    • Be ready with learning supplies and required materials

    • Use headphones, if possible

  • Behavior

    • Uphold respect in words and appearance

    • Turn on cameras, so teachers can assess student understanding using face-to-face interaction

    • Mute microphone upon entering a meet and only unmute when speaking

    • Be seated appropriately

    • Refrain from eating during synchronous lessons

    • Be focused, attentive, kind, and an active participant

    • Log off at the end of the session
