Dear ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏÍø-Brightwaters Community,
With the holiday season upon us, I trust that everyone is looking forward to the upcoming Winter Break and the New Year. We expect that 2022 will bring a sense of renewed hope, optimism and normalcy for all. The health and safety of our students and staff remain a top priority for the ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏÍø School District and our hope is to see all of our students in-school on January 3, 2022.
It is important to note that after the Thanksgiving Break, we began to see an increase in COVID-19 cases amongst students and staff, resulting in the need to quarantine individuals. In the event that COVID-19 cases continue to rise over the Winter Break resulting in a major disruption to our learning process and daily operations, it may become necessary to transition to a remote learning instructional model.
We have reviewed our Remote Learning Plan with our teachers and we are prepared to shift to remote instruction if the need arises. The main features of our Remote Learning Plan are as follows:
-
UPK-2: students will follow their regular school schedule and complete a variety of synchronous and asynchronous tasks during the school day using the application SeeSaw. If your child is in need of a device for remote learning, please inform the classroom teacher and arrangements will be made to pick up a device.
-
Grades 3-5: students will follow their regular school schedule and complete a variety of synchronous and asynchronous tasks during the school day via Google Classroom/Meet, using their district-issued Chromebook.
-
³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏÍø Middle School and ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏÍø High School: students will follow their building period-by-period schedule and will be expected to attend classes via Google Meet using their district-issued Chromebook.
Additional information related to our Remote Learning Plan can be found on the ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏÍø website.
At this time, the district intends to return to in-person instruction after the Winter Break. This information is being provided now as a proactive measure, to prepare everyone in the event that we do need to implement our Remote Learning Plan for a class, grade, or school. I want to thank you for your understanding and flexibility during these unique times. As always, your continued support of our students and ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏÍø is greatly appreciated.
Sincerely,
Steven J. Maloney, Ed. D.
